Match Preview: Caerau Ely vs Cambrian United

JD Cymru South – Friday 7 November 2025
Kick-off: 19:30 | Cwrt-yr-Ala Road, Cardiff

The CamArmy are back on the road tonight as Cambrian United travel to the capital to face Caerau Ely in the JD Cymru South, with another big three points up for grabs under the lights.

After booking their place in the Nathaniel MG Cup Semi-Final earlier this week, Liam Williams’ side will be looking to continue their fine run of form and keep the pressure on near the top of the table. A strong defensive base, coupled with attacking quality from the likes of Cody WilliamsLiam Eason, and Calum Bateman, has seen Cambrian build real momentum in recent weeks.

🏠 About Our Opponents

Caerau Ely have built a solid reputation as one of Cardiff’s most competitive and forward-thinking community clubs. Led by Manager Dan Wheeler, the Young Guns play an energetic and fearless brand of football, built on a blend of youth and experience.

In the 2024/25 campaign, Caerau Ely narrowly missed out on promotion — finishing just short after a thrilling end to the season that included a 4–3 win over Newport City and a narrow 3–2 defeat to Afan Lido on the final day. Their performances throughout that campaign earned plenty of respect across the division and showed the club’s intent to challenge again this term.

Alongside Wheeler, the dugout features well-respected coach James McCarthy, whose experience and football knowledge are well known across South Wales, and Matthew Davies, the club’s Head of Operations, who runs a highly regarded football programme in the Cardiff area — a key pillar in Caerau Ely’s player development and community work.

Always strong at home and backed by a passionate local crowd, Cwrt-yr-Ala Road promises to be a lively setting for what should be another competitive Cymru South encounter.
