Cambrian United return to home action on New Year’s Day as they welcome Pontypridd United to the M&P Group Stadium in the JD Cymru South.
The Cam Army come into the fixture in strong form and full of confidence as the new year begins. Most recently, Cambrian secured an impressive 3–1 away victory over local rivals Ynyshir, continuing a positive run that has also included a commanding 3–0 home win against Carmarthen Town and a hard-fought 2–1 away victory at Aberystwyth Town. The only recent setback came in the League Cup semi-final, where Cambrian narrowly exited against Barry Town.

The last meeting between the two sides was a dramatic encounter. Pontypridd made a fast start and raced into a 2–0 lead, but Cambrian showed tremendous character to fight back. Kyle Jones pulled one back before the break, giving the Cam Army belief heading into half-time. In the second half, Liam Eason took centre stage, scoring twice to complete a memorable comeback and secure a 4–2 victory.

Pontypridd arrive under new management, with former Cambrian player Mathew Discroll now at the helm. His first match in charge saw Pontypridd narrowly beaten 1–0 away at Aberystwyth Town, and he will be keen to get his first points on the board.
With momentum, local pride and valuable league points on the line, Thursday’s clash promises to be a competitive and entertaining start to 2025.
